Defining the Technology Future for a Critical Oregon Service During a Global Pandemic

Building a Roadmap for Rapid Scale and Growth

Defining the Technology Future for a Critical Oregon Service During a Global Pandemic
Defining the Technology Future for a Critical Oregon Service During a Global Pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a major Oregon nonprofit faced a sharp increase in both demand for its services and the volume of donations it received. In response, the organization doubled in size over just two years. However, its IT function remained at pre-pandemic staffing levels and operating model. As a result, IT capacity and process maturity failed to keep pace with the nonprofit’s rapid growth, leading to inconsistent, inefficient, and error-prone business systems and workflows.

Percipio was engaged to assess the nonprofit’s current-state IT capabilities and develop actionable recommendations for a future state aligned with the organization’s Strategic Plan. The assessment included a comprehensive evaluation of applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, IT service delivery, and organizational structure and staffing.

Using industry-standard assessment frameworks and best practices, Percipio partnered closely with nonprofit leadership to establish a shared vision, identify critical gaps, and prioritize improvement initiatives. The engagement resulted in a clear, phased roadmap outlining an optimized IT organizational model, targeted governance and process enhancements, and a stronger, more integrated partnership between IT and the business.

This roadmap equipped the nonprofit with the structure, capabilities, and clarity needed to support continued growth, adapt to change, and reliably deliver critical services during an unprecedented period of demand.
